Role Overview
The Accounts Assistant will play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of the financial functions within Surrey Security Service Limited. The successful candidate will assist with day-to-day accounting tasks, including maintaining accurate financial records, processing invoices, managing payroll, and supporting the finance team with various administrative duties. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong accounting background who is looking to contribute to a dynamic and growing company.
Key Responsibilities
- Invoice Processing: Accurately process and record supplier and client invoices, ensuring timely payments and correct allocation to accounts.
- Bank Reconciliation: Perform regular bank reconciliations to ensure all financial transactions are accurately recorded and discrepancies are resolved promptly.
- Payroll Support: Assist with the preparation and processing of payroll, ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time.
- Expense Management: Handle employee expense claims, ensuring they are correctly processed and reimbursed in accordance with company policies.
- Credit Control: Monitor and manage accounts receivable, following up on overdue payments and working closely with clients to resolve any issues.
- Financial Reporting: Assist in the preparation of monthly and quarterly financial reports, providing accurate data to support management decisions.
- General Ledger Maintenance: Maintain the general ledger, ensuring all financial entries are recorded accurately and timely.
- Administrative Support: Provide administrative support to the finance team, including filing, document management, and responding to queries from internal and external stakeholders.
- Compliance: Ensure all financial activities comply with relevant laws, regulations, and company policies.
Role Requirements
- Experience: Previous experience in an accounting or finance role, ideally within a service-based industry.
- Qualifications: AAT qualification or similar accounting qualification is preferred but not essential.
- Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks) and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact professionally with colleagues and clients.
- Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively within a team while also being capable of working independently.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve discrepancies in financial data.
- Confidentiality: High level of integrity and confidentiality in handling sensitive financial information.
